The Hoshizaki KMD-505MAJ ice maker head can produce up to 500 pounds of crescent-shaped ice in ideal conditions. This cube type, also known as half-cube ice, is great for casual and quick-service establishments and is primarily used in soft drinks, smoothies, and frozen cocktails. The unit must be hardwired into preexisting wiring to operate, and it requires a separate purchase of a collection bin.

The exterior of the Hoshizaki KMD-505MAJ maker head is finished in stainless steel for durability and easy cleaning. For even cooling, the unit uses R404a refrigerant that circulates via the air-cooled system. For convenience, the unit runs a self-diagnostic program to monitor the unit's components and notifies users via the EverCheck&trade alert system.
