The Hatco HBGB-4818 built-in heated base shelf features a food-safe ceramic glass surface that maximizes heat transfer and enhances presentation of to-go orders, prepared meals, and hors d'oeuvres. Operators can modify temperature from 100 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit with the thermostatic control as holding requirements change, and heat distributes evenly for consistency. When this unit is on, its on/off rocker switch illuminates so staff can quickly discern its power status. The thermostatic control and power switch are located on the control box, which is equipped with a 3-foot conduit and a 6-foot power cord with a plug.

Because it's a built-in unit, the Hatco HBGB-4818 heated shelf is an integrative solution for buffet lines and self-service areas requiring a holding surface. This 49⁵/₈-inch-wide by 19⁵/₈-inch-deep by 2¹/₅-inch-high unit fits a metallic countertop cutout as large as 48⁷/₈ inches wide by 18⁷/₈ inches deep and as small as 48⁵/₈ inches wide by 18⁵/₈ inches deep for a flush appearance. Its black design provides a neutral, attractive background while its two equally sized ceramic glass pieces create a seam that can separate food offerings.
