To facilitate setup, the Metro 5Q457G3 MetroMax? Q starter shelving unit comes with one-piece reinforced nylon wedges that can be attached to the four 74-inch-tall polymer posts. Once the wedges are secured in place, the five included epoxy-coated shelves can be placed atop them. Removable, vented polypropylene mats can be used on the shelves to establish a barrier between the product and the shelf frames, promoting airflow to minimize dust buildup. Once they're dirty, these mats can be washed in a sink, dishmachine, or washing machine. When fully assembled, this unit measures 47¹³?₁₆ inches wide by 21³?₈ inches deep by 74 inches tall. Because its posts resist rust and its shelves resist rust and corrosion, it's safe to use in dry or wet storage areas between -20 and 125 degrees Fahrenheit.

Each shelf in the Metro 5Q457G3 commercial shelving unit can support as much as 800 pounds of bagged or canned goods, and to preserve the unit's structural integrity, no more than 2,000 pounds should be loaded onto the shelving system at once. As inventory changes, operators can maximize vertical storage space by raising or lowering the shelves?in 1-inch increments?along the grooves in the post. To simplify adjustment, the corner-release mechanism enables users to relocate the wedge connectors without using tools. So the unit remains stable as items are loaded and retrieved, the posts' reinforced nylon feet can be adjusted to account for bumpy or sloped flooring. Microban? antimicrobial protection is built into the posts and shelf mats to slow growth of microbes, fungi, and bacteria between routine cleanings, minimizing odors and product damage.
