When fully assembled, the Metro 5Q527G3 MetroMax? Q shelf kit measures 29¹³?₁₆ inches wide by 24³?₄ inches deep by 74 inches tall, boasting five tiers of shelving. To save time during setup, its one-piece reinforced nylon wedge connectors can be secured to the 74-inch-tall polymer posts, and once four wedges are attached to the corresponding posts, a shelf can be placed atop them. Staff can reposition shelves in 1-inch increments with the corner-release system, which facilitates wedge connector adjustment, and for stabilization on irregular flooring, its feet can be raised or lowered.

For lasting strength and rust resistance, the Metro 5Q527G3 commercial starter shelving unit's steel shelves are coated with abrasion-resistant epoxy, while the posts are constructed of polymer. These materials endure dry or wet environments from -20 to 125 degrees Fahrenheit for use in dishrooms, kitchens, walk-in coolers and freezers, and pantries. Though each shelf can support 800 pounds of canned goods, bulk ingredients, and bagged products, no more than 2,000 pounds should be stored on the unit to preserve its structural integrity. To enhance airflow and light penetration, the shelves come with vented polypropylene shelf mats. As these mats become dirty, they can be removed and washed in sinks, washing machines, or dishwashers.
