For full operation of the Hoshizaki KMD-705MWJ ice maker head, operators must purchase a separate collection base. The unit must be hardwired into the location's electrical system because it doesn't come with a plug. R404a refrigerant is circulated throughout the maker using the water-cooled refrigeration system; water lines connect to the locations system.

When incoming water flowing into the Hoshizaki KMD-705MWJ maker head is 50 degrees Fahrenheit and the ambient air is 70 degrees, the unit can produce 592 pounds of ice in a day. As incoming water in water-cooled systems is often cooler than ambient air, ice production will be consistent. The self-diagnostic program works with the EverCheck™ alert system to notify operators of any issues as they arise. Most issues will be automatically addressed, reducing the need for user intervention.
