A drop-down door on the front and a flip-up door on the top provide access to contents. Constructed of stainless steel, the exterior and service doors are durable, while a clear-coated aluminum lines the interior. Cold air stays inside the cabinet because it is insulated with polyurethane insulation, and structure is provided by the black powder-coated steel frame.

To ensure milk stays safe, a self-contained capillary tube system with R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant uses forced-air refrigeration to maintain a set temperature between 33 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit, which can be monitored on an external digital display. The True TMC-58-S-HC milk cooler's evaporator is coated in epoxy to resist corrosion, and because the condensing unit slides out, it is convenient to service.

To improve condensing coil operation, the condensing fan motor blows in a reverse direction for 20 seconds when the compressor is turned on. This mechanism helps reduce buildup of debris and dust on the coil's surface, reducing overall coil energy usage and increasing the unit's lifespan. Though effective, this mechanism should not replace general maintenance.
