As seen in the 30E series, the Howard-McCray SC-OS30E-4C-B open merchandiser features a self-contained refrigeration system that cools between 36 and 40 degrees as determined by the electronic controller's input settings. This system is mounted at the bottom of the cabinet to enable maximum space inside. An automatic defroster runs several times a day to prevent ice growth on vital components.

The Howard-McCray SC-OS30E-4C-B horizontal impulse cooler's interior spans 76 cubic feet and has three levels. The curved plexiglass sides provide a clear view of the interior while helping to maintain cool conditions. An air curtain blows along the open-top section to hold in the cold and keep pests out. The unit is painted black to match surrounding equipment and enables displayed items to draw patrons' attention.
