The Hoshizaki R1A-HS Steelheart reach-in refrigerator has one section with three epoxy-coated wire shelves. Its cabinet has two half-height doors that reduce cold air loss when one is opened, and their solid construction saves energy when compared to glass doors. These doors can be locked to prevent tampering, their gasket seals in cold air, and they self-close with a stay-open design for product stocking and cabinet cleaning.

Because it's mounted on top of the cabinet, the refrigeration system in this Hoshizaki R1A-HS one-section reach-in refrigerator is positioned away from the floor, where dirt and debris could get sucked into the condenser. The system uses R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant to keep temperatures low, which is metered by a thermostatic expansion valve based on the interior temperature. Operators can set the temperature with digital controls and monitor it on the digital display.
