The Hoshizaki R1A-HS(L) one-section, reach-in refrigerator has a small external footprint and a large internal storage capacity. Its two doors are self-closing and have a stay-open feature that locks at 90 degrees. The doors, sides, front, top, and interior are made of heavy-duty stainless steel that resists rust and scratches. A digital display discloses the temperature and can be adjusted to read in Fahrenheit or Celsius. It has high and low temperature and voltage alarms to ensure the unit runs properly.

The refrigeration system is mounted on the top of the Hoshizaki R1A-HS(L) Steelheart refrigerator. Its evaporator's thermal expansion valve uses R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant to cool the unit. A ducted airflow system distributes cold air uniformly within the cabinet, eliminating hot spots.
