Since it has a top-mounted refrigeration system, the True STA1RPT-1S-1G-HC pass-thru refrigerator's evaporator is kept away from the food zone and debris on the floor. The evaporator and condenser fan motors are electronically commutated, so they move air more efficiently than other motors without creating as much heat or using as much energy. Additionally, the evaporator coils are coated with epoxy to resist corrosion. This unit keeps its cabinet at a set temperature between 33 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit through a self-contained capillary tube system that holds and releases R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant.

To direct air towards the condensing coil, the condensing fan motor reverses direction for 20 seconds upon compressor start up, blowing away dust and debris. When maintenance is perfomed alongside this feature, it operates more efficiently, using less energy and providing better product temperatures.

Since they have a pass-thru design, this refrigerator's front and back doors can be opened at the same time. The front door is solid and made of stainless steel, and the rear door is made of double-pane low-e and thermal-insulated glass. Both doors have metal handles to aid in opening and bolt-style locks to keep contents safe. They can close on their own but stay open beyond 120 degrees for effortless loading and unloading. Magnetic gaskets snap into each frame and prevent cold air from seeping out. To secure the doors to the cabinet, four cam-lift hinges are set in place.

Its exterior front, door, and sides and interior floor and ceiling are made of stainless steel, which resists corrosion and dents. To resist scratches, the interior back and side walls are constructed of aluminum. Its walls are foamed with polyurethane insulation to help the cabinet retain proper temperatures. LED lighting illuminates the interior so that ingredients can be found quickly. To supply movement, four 5-inch-diameter castors are included; the front set has locks for stability. Temperatures are displayed on the outside in Fahrenheit or Celsius.
