The Hoshizaki R1A-FS commercial reach-in refrigerator is fitted with two inches of CFC-free polyurethane insulation to retain cold air and ensure proper temperatures are retained. Along with a solid-state digital controller, the unit has an LED screen that shows temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, and the controller also makes use of temperature alarms. Extensive stainless steel construction protects the refrigerator from the wear and tear of a busy restaurant kitchen, as well as corrosion and rust.

The solid door of the Hoshizaki R1A-FS one-section refrigerator locks in the cold, preventing it from leaking out the way a glass door would. Interior circulation is boosted by a ducted air distribution system, which works to prevent hot spots from forming inside the cabinet.
