Each hour, the Antunes VCT-25-9200626 contact toaster can toast 2,800 bun slices, each one taking 25 seconds to finish. As the buns are inserted, the unit's compression system adjusts to hold bun tops and bottoms, also called crowns and heels, in place, as these tops and bottoms need to be between ¹/₂ inch and ⁷/₈ inch thick to fit in the 1¹/₄-inch-thick opening. After buns are inserted, they move down the toasting chamber on a conveyor and come in contact with a hot platen, caramelizing the sugar in the buns and creating a firm surface for condiments. Because this Antunes VCT-25-9200626 vertical bun toaster has a double-sided platen, buns can be placed in front and behind it, virtually doubling the capacity.
