For chopping fruits and vegetables and slicing small loaves of bread, the 3¹/₂-inch-long blade is constructed of high-carbon steel that won't stain or corrode, making it durable enough to sustain long-term use. To prevent user injury, its polypropylene handle is textured and comfortable to hold, reducing the risk of slippage. Its white material can be part of a color-coding system to prevent cross contamination.
