The top shelf has a 400-pound capacity, while each bottom shelf is equipped to hold 600 pounds. To reduce the risk of structural damage, no more than 1,800 pounds should be stored on this unit. The shelves' gapped structures encourage air to move through the slots and across the surfaces, which helps reduce moisture and dust buildup. To ensure items are stored on clean surfaces, the shelves can be wiped cleaned routinely or removed for dishmachine washing.

Operators can affix the Cambro CBA244272V5580 add-on shelving unit to a Basics Plus starter unit in U, L, or T shapes so the conjoined unit can fit comfortably in cramped storage areas. Preassembled post connectors and wedges, dovetails, and traverses are included in this kit to ease setup. To prevent limitations in where the add-on unit can be stored, its polypropylene construction can be used in environments between -36 and 190 degrees Fahrenheit. If it's installed on an irregular or sloped surface, its leveling feet stabilize it. To match the original unit, this add-on shelving unit is brushed graphite gray, and its polymer construction resists rusting, corroding, peeling, and scratching to preserve its look over time.
