To withstand high-volume use without rusting or corroding, the Continental D1RNHD one-section reach-in refrigerator is made of stainless steel and aluminum. For further strength and streamlined cleaning, the unit's three shelves are constructed of steel wire. The unit's body has two half-height doors with chrome handles and magnetic gaskets; if a door is accidentally left open, it will self-close to reduce temperature loss. Overall, this unit measures 26 inches wide by 35³/₈ inches deep by 83¹/₄ inches high and is mounted on 6-inch adjustable legs.

The Continental D1RNHD refrigerator's self-contained refrigeration system uses R-290 hydrocarbon refrigerant. To preserve energy and reduce temperature fluctuations, the cabinet is insulated with CFC-free polyurethane foam. Staff can set and adjust temperature settings using the digital controls, and these controls provide a temperature readout, high/low alarm, and management over defrost settings.
