Meant for refrigerated storage, the base of the Hoshizaki SR48B-18MD2 prep table provides two drawers and one stainless steel cabinet. The drawers grant space for a multitude of pan configurations, as the top and bottom drawers are ideal for one half-size pan and one third-size pan (not included). Specified only for the top drawer, users can alternate one full-size pan longways. The drawers are designed for thorough and lasting use because they're mounted on heavy-duty 16-gauge stainless steel slides, and the acetal roller minimizes metal-on-metal contact. The drawer's sturdy support allows a 175-pound capacity to hold excess product. The compartment behind the door houses one epoxy-coated shelf, and the door is hinged with a versatile field-reversible configuration. If left ajar, it has self-closing feature and remains propped open at a 90-degree angle for smooth loading and unloading.

The top of the Hoshizaki SR48B-18MD2 prep table offers space for pans, a fully insulated cover, and a ¹/₂-inch-thick cutting board. A total of 18 pans can store produce, meat, cheese, and a variety of other classic sandwich and salad toppings. The cover is meant to lock in the cold and shield the products from contaminants, meanwhile, the provided workspace offers a comfortable area to craft sandwiches and subs. The cabinet and pans remain cool using the self-contained refrigeration system's distributed air circulation, and this system is efficient enough in ambient temperatures as high as 100 degrees Fahrenheit. To upkeep the refrigeration's components, the built-in defrost system reduces excess freezing to working parts for a lasting lifespan.
