The Howard-McCray SC-OS35E-5 Impulse horizontal open-air cooler's removable front grill streamlines maintenance, while the straight plexiglass sides are removable to help create an endless design. The unit's heavy-gauge steel structure provides a clean appearance with its white construction and resists dents, scratches, and rust. To keep temperatures at a set level between 36 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit, insulation is foamed into the middle of the metal paneling. Staff can arrange products on the step shelves, which enable full visibility of each stored item.

Equipped with an automatic air defrost and condensate pan, the Howard-McCray SC-OS35E-5 cooler reduces energy use and upkeep time. To relieve stress on the unit's self-contained refrigeration system, the air screen technology prevents cold air from escaping the cabinet, while the perforated rear wall and low-velocity fans circulate air to ensure even cooling. This cooler is provided with a drain for establishments that require plumbing connections, while the night cover can be utilized after hours to retain internal temperatures.
