The unit is built with a heavy-gauge steel super structure to support heavy weights, while the exterior features stainless steel paneling for a sleek appearance. The curved plexiglass trim works with the high-efficiency air screen to maintain cool conditions.

The Howard-McCray SC-OS35E-6C-S-LED horizontal cooled display utilizes a self-contained refrigeration system located within the base of the case. The front grill is removable to access the system as needed. Staff must use the electronic controller to set the desired operating temperature, which ranges from 36 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The automatic defrost works six times a day to prevent ice development, while the condensate pan collects water droplets.
