The posts are marked with a visual guide every 1 inch, so the shelves can be spaced apart as needed. The shelf frames feature an open-corner design that slide over the wedges, ensuring a secure, stable hold and simplifying installation. Users can then apply the polymer shelf mats. While each individual shelf can hold 800 pounds of product, the whole unit's load should not exceed 2,000 pounds. Once fully constructed, this unit measures 41¹³/₁₆ inches wide by 21³/₈ inches deep by 63 inches high; it sports a louvered design to facilitate airflow and encourage light penetration.

For longevity, the Metro Q446G3 MetroMax? shelf kit's four-sided frames are epoxy coated to reduce corrosion. The polymer posts and mats have Microban? antimicrobial protection to inhibit mold and bacteria growth, making this unit ideal in humid or damp storage spaces such as walk-in coolers. This unit withstands continuous use in temperatures between -20 and 125 degrees Fahrenheit. To maintain a pristine appearance between cleanings, the polymer mats can be removed for washing in a dishmachine; the posts can then be wiped down with non-abrasive cleaning materials.
