The Prince Castle CTS-W vertical toaster can produce 2,200 buns in an hour, though this amount varies based on the time setting on the unit. It toasts buns for 9 to 40 seconds at temperatures between 350 and 550 degrees Fahrenheit, and as buns move down the toaster, they touch a platen for toasting. Unlike radiant heat, contact toasting caramelizes the sugars in the bun, creating a surface that cannot be penetrated by moisture in condiments, lettuce, and tomatoes. So users can send the top and bottom buns through the unit at the same time, the platen has two levels.

This Prince Castle CTS-W bun toaster's wire conveyor belt can be used for wet or dry applications, with buns being buttered before being placed in the toaster with wet applications. For cleaning, the conveyor is removable, and the unit is made of heavy-duty stainless steel.
