The cast iron grates that sit over the burners can be removed for cleaning and can accommodate 14-inch-diameter pots. Grease is collected in the removable drip tray, facilitating cleanup.

The base has an oven with a temperature range of 175 to 550 degrees Fahrenheit. With its porcelain interior and coved corners, the oven can be cleaned quickly. The single rack can be adjusted between two positions, and the spring-loaded, counterweight door aids staff in opening and closing the unit. The Southbend 4241E range has a stainless steel exterior that resists corrosion and can withstand heavy use. The flue riser vents heat and gases from the cooktop, and the stainless steel legs can be adjusted for uneven floors.
