The Vulcan 960RX griddle?s stainless steel sides, front, and front top ledge provide durability and corrosion resistance. Five U-shaped burners heat the 1-inch-thick griddle plate; this thickness withstands the stress of heating up and cooling down repeatedly without warping. Since the burners are placed every 12 inches, there is an even heat transfer across the cooking surface. Embedded in each burner, snap-action thermostats offer quick response times and accurate heating at temperatures between 200 and 550 degrees Fahrenheit.

If the pilot extinguishes, the safety valve cuts off gas flow to the pilots and burners, reducing the risk of fires and other accidents. To reduce the risk of burns, the bullnose front on the Vulcan 960RX griddle stays cool to the touch. Tapered side splashes and a 4-inch backsplash minimize countertop messes by containing grease and food particles. There is a spatula-sized grease gutter, fully-welded grease chute, and two 6-quart grease drawers to make cleanup simple.
